A Dozen List of Gratefulness

In no particular order,

  1. Life

Every day, I sleep with plans for tomorrow and the future and sometimes, I wonder, what if it was the last day I ever encounter? But again, I quickly discard the thought as early as it comes to mind because I believe I was created to fulfil a purpose which is yet to be completed. May my days be long.

  1. My Parents

As days goes by, I find that I get to have more tender feelings towards my parents. Less teenage anger for money they didn’t give me, for the outings they didn’t let me attend and many more of those silly childish wants. I am grateful they gave me everything I need to keep me going today. I see more and understand the sacrifices they have made for me, my siblings and extended family… I love my parents very much

  1. Technology

Whosoever discovered this this will remain a genius for ever, at least to me. I so much love the usefulness of the internet, the multiple things I can use my phone and computer for, the kitchen gadgets and the house hold appliances, they sure make my life better. I hope I can get to trust the washing machine more with my clothes though… typical Nigerian Ijebu girl’s excuse – they make my dresses age fast… lol.

  1. My Friends

Sometimes, don’t you just wonder how a person or group of people simply become very special to you? Also, how people take likeness to you? It is best when the feeling is shared though. My friends are very special to me because they give my attitude towards others validation. If you have beautiful people in your life, celebrate them and find moments to show that you appreciate the love they have towards you. That their concerns about your affairs matter. Friends are worth your time, your energy, your love and attention. It is very important though, that you differentiate between who is friendly with you, who you are friendly with and who your friends are. Trust me, there is a difference.

The Eight Kinds of People Everyone Needs

  1. My Talent

I don’t know why I don’t like to show them off. Maybe I because I can be shy or maybe because I don’t really like show offs… Lol. I don’t even know what it is. But let me start here. My talent is creativity and I channelled it into hair making. I can make hair. Anyways, I have channelled it into a side business and you can help the ministry by following @hairbyslick on Instagram. Lol, that is just by the way. Well, I started making hair since I was very young. As little as 5 years old, I would make my doll and younger sister’s hair, my sister was about 1 year plus then and my only human customer, lol. Till today, she is helping to move the ministry. I also like to design clothes but I don’t know why I am very ‘unserious’ with it. That’s for talent.

  1. Shortcomings

When they say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, you think it’s a lie. I have a trusting heart and I know deep down, that I am a good person but that does not prevent one from hard luck right… Well, I have had my fair share and if anything, I know it prepared me to know what the real deal is. So if you ask me, I will say don’t beat yourself if someone does not reciprocate the good in you, you take wrong decisions, you are not where you thought you ought to be, you don’t have the dream job yet, bad relationship choice e.t.c. Just know when to cut your losses. The happiness that comes with the right moment wipes away the hurts from the wrongs totally. So stay positive.

  1. My Hobbies

Is there a ‘hobbyless’ person? Well, I don’t know sha. I am grateful for my hobbies because they make me very happy. I have series of hobbies. I love music, movies, dancing, cooking, talking to my friends, encouraging people, meeting people, writing and sometimes, reading good books. The only ish is the time to enjoy my hobbies. Even though I am totally selective of whom and those I enjoy my hobbies with, I wish I had more time to enjoy my hobbies… lol. Who doesn’t like to relax… Hobbies time is fun time.

  1. My Heart

I have a very strict perspective to life but my heart is very fragile so many at times, I use my head to think not my heart. Despite being fragile, I am grateful for my heart. It makes me remember to be humane, to be kind, to give love, hope for love and never give up. My happy moments will be very far-fetched if I do not have the kind of heart I do. And for this, I feel happiness in my heart; I am grateful

  1. My Siblings

Siblings are whom you do not have control over. Your parents just dash them to you freely and impose their love on you. Well, mine imposed three sisters and a brother on me and I am lucky that they love me irrespective. I know that I am tough to like, talk less of love… and if I have the ones that can stand me and my attitude, then I say I am blessed. Bis B, Sunmie, T gal and Seni, I hope you get to read this.

  1. My Dimple

Hehehe… somebody just laughed. Well, I have one dimple on one of my cheeks. I don’t know if it is on the left or on the right but it is there. It accentuates my smile, highlights my face and makes my smile very beautiful. Well, I took the description from people’s feedback. They made me proud of my one dimple. It sometimes makes me shy… but I am thankful it is there, sitting pretty in a spot on my face.

  1. Health

When I was younger, I took ill a whole huge lot. The doctors and nurses usually are very familiar with me due to my frequent visits to the doctors. It’s not like I am a sickle cell or anything, just the common malaria, typhoid, measles, chickenpox, and those regular illness just that mine is usually too frequent and quite intense when they occur. But look at me today… I still take ill, but I sure know how to manage my health better and my trip to the doctors are less frequent… praise the lawd somebody!

  1. My Achievements

If you are not in someone else’s shoes, you cannot understand their journey. It is very true. As I look at all the paths that I have taken to be where I am today, I am proud of my choices. I have no time for regrets. If I made a wrong choice, I am quick to retrace my steps to correct it. But where I see that there is no step to retrace, I simply accept it and think of making better choices going forward. Life is not as easy as it seem so what we make of the moment largely influences our next steps.
